Idaho Fish and Game Reconsider Hunting Permits for Pre-Teens

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says it's reconsidering its decision to allow 9- to 11-year-olds to remain in a recently completed controlled-hunt drawing.

The department agreed to keep the young hunters in the drawing after it received more than 1,000 ineligible applications because of confusion over a new law. The law allowing the young hunters to kill big game doesn't take effect until July 1.

The department originally allowed the ineligible hunters to remain in the drawing to avoid delaying the results. But in a news release Friday, Director Virgil Moore says numerous concerns from parents and hunters led him to change his mind and revisit the decision. Moore says he'll make a final decision early next week.
