NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — Officials with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are asking for help finding the person who poached a trumpeter swan near the western Idaho town of Star, and a citizens group is offering a reward for information. Department officials say the trumpeter swan was found at the edge of a pond near Bent Lane by district conservation officer Matt O’Connell.

Citizens Against Poaching is offering an award of an undisclosed amount for information about the case. Trumpeter swans have a wingspan of about eight feet and they weigh more than 20 pounds. They’re the largest swan in the world and there is no hunting season for the birds in Idaho.
