Idaho Fire Leaves People Without Home on Christmas

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A fire broke out in an apartment building in downtown Idaho Falls, causing dozens of people to flee their homes. Fire officials say 30 to 40 people evacuated the Bonneville Apartments Monday afternoon. Between eight and 13 people were treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The Post-Register reports 20 to 30 people were left homeless by the fire. KIFI-TV reports initial damage estimates are $150,000. Residents were brought to the City Hall Annex Building for warmth and a meal. The Red Cross set up temporary housing for some displaced residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
