Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Permit Bill Ready for Signing

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Senate has approved a pair of bills that change the state's concealed weapons laws. Both measures have already cleared the House headed to the governor's desk. One proposal aims to make the state's concealed weapons permits valid in more states.

Getting a concealed carry permit is relatively easy in Idaho. But for now, many states don't recognize Idaho's permits. On a unanimous vote Monday the Senate approved a bill that would bolster state standards and create a voluntary "enhanced" permit. Obtaining the permit — which would likely be eligible in three dozen states — requires an eight hour class and live fire training.

The Senate also signed off on a bill that permits Idahoans to carry tasers, pepper spray and four-inch or less knives without a concealed permit.
