BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's four Republican electors are scheduled to meet in Boise today to cast their ballots for the president of the United States.

These four party loyalists are members of the Electoral College, the 538 Americans who actually elect the president. The number corresponds to the seats a state has in the U.S. Senate and House, plus the three electoral votes allotted to Washington, D.C. Gem State voters swung Trump on Election Day, but unlike rules that dictate 29 other states, Idaho electors aren't required to honor the state's results.

Furthermore, there's no penalty if Idaho's electors choose to go their own way, but it's unlikely they will. The electors will meet in the Governor's Ceremonial Office, on the second floor of the Idaho Capitol. The event is open to the public.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Two of Idaho's Republican four electors are set to be replaced Monday before casting their ballots for the president of the United States.

The Idaho Statesman reports that Layne Bangerter of Melba and Melinda Smyser of Parma will be replaced because they are constitutionally barred as federal employees from serving as electors. Bangerter works for U.S. Mike Crapo and Smyser works for U.S. Sen. Jim Risch — both Idaho Republicans. Rod Beck, who chaired Trump's primary campaign, will replace Bangerter.

Smyser's husband, Skip, a lobbyist and former legislator, will take her place. The electors will meet in the Governor's Ceremonial Office, on the second floor of the Idaho Capitol. The event is open to the public.
