Idaho Dam Rapairs Complete

ASHTON, Idaho (AP) — After three years of work, the Ashton Reservoir is on pace to reach normal levels next week. The reservoir has been drawn down so crews can focus on upgrades to the dam's base. Rocky Mountain Power has already resumed generating electricity at the dam, located on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River and three miles west of Ashton.

The Post Register reports the reservoir will likely be reopened to the public for recreational activities on Jan. 4. During the project, crews removed and replaced a section of the dam's earthen portion. This year, crews replaced and repaired concrete supporting structures on the downstream side of the power house and replacing the dam's concrete crest. The dam needed to refill the reservoir 26 feet to reach normal levels.
