BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A bill could spark a new way for Idaho's lawmakers to recognize educators who make the biggest differences in the lives of students.

The motion, proposed by Rep. Linden Bateman, calls for each of the 105 legislators to hand out an award to a teacher in their district.

The teachers would be identified by the school district or charter school they work for. The chosen teachers receive a certificate and $500. Several legislators raised concerns about the logistics of each lawmaker giving out an award and the criteria used to determine the best teacher.
