Idaho 5 Year Old Kicked by Horse, Ambulance Breaks Down

WINCHESTER, Idaho (AP) — A 5-year-old boy who was kicked by a horse in eastern Idaho faced a difficult trip to the hospital. The Lewiston Tribune reports  the boy was kicked by a horse on private property near the Winchester rodeo grounds Saturday afternoon.

Lewis County Sheriff Brian Brokup says the boy was taken to the medical booth at the rodeo grounds for initial treatment of an apparent broken arm and head, neck and spinal column injuries. The boy was sent by ambulance to the hospital, but the ambulance experienced mechanical problems and pulled over on U.S. Highway 95.

The Life Flight helicopter landed on the highway and took the boy to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Hospital officials could not release information about the boy's condition without his name, which has not been released.
