I-84 Westbound Near Jerome Blocked – Expect Delays

The News Radio 1310 KLIX News Department received a tip earlier this evening that I-84 near Jerome was closed. We have unconfirmed reports of an accident between exits 157 and 165, about three miles west of Jerome.

UPDATE (January 7th, 2013, 6:43pm) - Idaho State Police confirms that they are currently on scene of a crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 at milepost 162, west of Jerome. Westbound traffic is currently being diverted at milepost 165.

The ISP doesn't currently know when the block will be lifted.

The Idaho State Police are asking travelers to please plan an alternate route of travel through this area as road conditions are extremely slick. Travel is discouraged if not absolutely necessary.

The Idaho Transportation Department lists I-84 westbound as blocked and they warn travelers to expect delays.
