JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – A $3.2 million road project that includes resurfacing a portion of Interstate 84 is scheduled to begin on Monday in Jerome County.

According to the Idaho Transportation Department, the full-width resurfacing project of the eastbound lanes between the Northside Canal and Kasota Road interchange will increase the life expectancy of the road.

The project also includes paving the ramps at the Kasota Road interchange, or Exit 201, and replacing guardrail, fence and delineators at designated locations. An epoxy-resin sealant will be applied to the concrete driving surface of the bridge spanning the Northside Canal.

During the seven-mile project, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, according to ITD, utilizing the median crossovers to put all traffic on the westbound lanes for the duration of the paving work. A 70-mph speed limit and a 15-foot width limit will be in effect throughout the construction zone.

Paving work is scheduled for completion late this month. Bridgework will be completed after July 4, with seal coating and striping to take place in late August. Westbound lanes will be paved in 2017.
