Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) On Monday the Twin Falls City Council approved the 2014 fiscal year budget. On the following Tuesday an error has brought to the attention of the city concerning a difference in taxable value. So this Thursday the council was back together to continue budget talks.

Due to what the city calls "Human Error", the Twin Falls County Assessor's Office made a mistake on the difference of taxable value. The Assessor's Office mistakenly incorporated some of Chobani’s personal property tax into the city's taxable value. With that discrepancy the city must now make a slight increase to the tax rate. "Our tax rate will have a slight increase... but an increase in the tax rate does not necessarily mean that individual property taxes are going to go up. We're looking at a monthly difference, after the sewer bond, of about $2.34." Said Twin Falls City Manager Travis Rothweiler.

With that slight increase the council was able to maintain the same budget they approved on Monday night. If you have any questions concerning the tax rate increase the city of Twin Falls is encouraging citizen to stop by City Hall or contact them during regular office hours.
