Ten years ago, you could buy your children's school supplies for under $40. If you use coupons, you might be able to buy your children's school supplies for under $40 this year. However, most Twin Falls parents report spending between $60 to $100 per child this year on school supplies. This adds up fast if you have multiply kids in school.

Parents are posting all over social media that school supply lists are out of control.

In the last 5 years, school supply lists have grown into more than just school supplies. We've seen disinfecting wipes, paper towels, ZipLoc bags, baby wipes, post-it's, dry-erase markers, etc. added to the list. Currently, most Twin Falls schools have added these items to a "suggested list". The suggested list is a great idea except for the fact that now parents are buying supplies for everyone else's kids. This has made some parents very angry.

Parents are posting all over social media that school supply lists are out of control. The biggest complaint I am seeing is each child's school supplies aren't being used by the children they are purchased for. If parents are going to spend this kind of money on supplies, they want the supplies to go to THEIR kids not everyone else's.

Do you agree that school supply lists have gotten out of hand? Or, should we suck it up and spend an entire day, and a good portion of our paychecks, on school supplies because it's what our children need?
