This morning, as I drifted in and out of sleep between hitting the snooze button, I couldn't help but wonder how much more rest I would get if I skipped the snooze altogether and just gave myself an extra 20 minutes of real sleep.

I checked several health sites and they all pretty much say the same thing.  Hitting the snooze is bad for you.  It interrupts your sleep cycle at a crucial time during the sleep cycle.  The last hour of sleep is where you probably experience a significant amount of REM sleep.  You can read this article to learn more about what that means but it's basically when you dream and it's a very important part of your sleep cycle.

The experts agree.  We should abandon the snooze button in favor of a realistic wake-up time and get up as soon as the alarm goes off.

How many times do you snooze?
