A helicopter has crashed near the Twin Falls Airport sometime before noon today. KMVT spoke with Bill Carberry, the Airport Manager, who said that the pilot was training at the time of the crash.

"He was a very skilled pilot and just had an unfortunate loss of power according to the pilot," said Carberry.

Carberry identified the pilot as 51 year old Steven Wybenga. Wybenga was solo flying a lightweight Endstrom helicopter when he reported a "rough running" engine.

Three of the Twin Falls Fire Stations were dispatched to the scene near the northwest corner of the runway.
