‘Hawaii Five-0′ Season 4 Taps Chi McBride as Original Series Character
We’ve seen CBS procedural ‘Hawaii Five-0‘ pay reverence to the original series by reenacting entire episodes, and even with the season 4 move to Friday nights, that trend shows no sign of stopping. The network has called upon former ‘Golden Boy‘ star Chi McBride for a recurring role as a character that originated on the original 1968 series.
Per Entertainment Weekly, McBride will appear beginning with the September 27 premiere as SWAT Captain Lou Grover, a character from the original series that could recur across the CBS drama’s fourth season.
“It’s always fun to dig back into Five-0 mythology and resurrect a character — and in this case, Chi McBride plays SWAT Captain Lou Grover,” said executive producer Peter Lenkov to EW. “Recently transferred to Hawaii from Chicago, Grover isn’t easily sold on Five-0′s tactics, referring to the task force as: ‘McGarrett and his merry band of do-whatever-the-hell-they-want.’ What Five-0 does conflicts with Grover’s own style of law enforcement. And that creates good conflict, so prepare for some combustive tension between the two this season.”
Hopefully, the duration of the role wouldn’t interfere with ‘Hannibal‘ creator Bryan Fuller‘s previously-expressed desire to cast McBride in the NBC drama’s second season. As far as ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ McBride joins fellow guest star Jorge Garcia, who will take an early season 4 role as a brilliant conspiracy theorist, and (of course) share scenes with his former ‘LOST’ co-star Daniel Dae Kim.
Well, what say you? Are you excited to have another character from ‘Hawaii Five-0′ history join the ranks?
