HAILEY, Idaho (IME)-A Hailey man was in critical but stable condition at a Boise hospital Monday morning after beings shot outside a Subway. The Idaho Mountain Express reports it happened late Saturday night at the sandwich shop on Main Street.

Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter tells the paper, the Subway employee Nathan Deford, 25, had closed up the store and was heading out just before midnight Saturday when he was confronted by Anthony Parsons, 29,. Deford apparently owed Parsons some money, Gunter said, and an argument ensued. As the men argued, a friend of Deford’s, Adam K. Boyd, 30, of Hailey, allegedly went to his vehicle to retrieve a .40-caliber pistol and shot Parsons once in the midsection.

All the parties were present when the police arrived, Gunter said. Parsons was taken to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. Boyd was taken into custody on charges of aggravated battery with a weapons enhancement, Gunter said.
