The purchase-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game Guild Wars 2 might finally be getting its first expansion after three years.

An article on Polygon (which contains spoilers for Guild Wars 2's latest content), points to the most recent chapter in Season Two of the Living World story and how it suggests that a full expansion could be on the way.

An anonymous reader who's completed the finale tipped Polygon off to the fact that the big, bad dragon, Mordremoth, has been revealed to be the creator of the Sylvari, Ent-like plant people who are one of the playable races in Guild Wars 2.

When the finale's content is completed, you're met with a video that informs players that they can "discover what waits beyond the point of no return" on Jan. 24, 2015 at 10:30AM CT, which is the same exact time as the Guild Wars 2 panel taking place at Pax South.

This information might indicate that NCSoft is planning to release a full expansion for the game. Another hint might be the fact that the company has trademarked "Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns," which could be a reference to the Sylvari and their roles as player characters and the creations of an evil being.

We'll keep you updated as more information is revealed. Until then, we'll just have to wait for the PAX South panel next week.
