Grid: Autosport Trailer: Back to Its Racing Roots

Codemasters has just announced that Grid is returning in the form of Grid: Autosport, coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Codemasters’ Community Manager Ben Walke posted a lengthy introduction to Grid: Autosport to the Codemasters Blog. In it, he describes how Autosport is meant to move the Grid franchise back to its roots, providing better controls and handling so that it feels more like a racing sim rather than an arcade racer.
He touches on several aspects of the game that makes it unique among the other Grid titles, such as the more authentic handling, which is meant to make it feel more like a simulation but “not clinical.”
He also talks briefly about racing disciplines and how certain car types will dictate how they act on the roads. Touring Cars, GT, Single-Seaters, Muscle Cars, Drift, Supercars, Hypercars, Time Attack and Prototypes are just a few examples. More details about each discipline will be revealed within the next few weeks, with an in-depth look at Touring Discipline coming next week.
Walke gives a few examples of locations we’ll see, such as Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina comprising just a few of the 22 locations in the game. You’ll be able to tear through these tracks in a career mode that allows you to once again race with a teammate. There’s also a bit about the multiplayer mode, which will be powered by RaceNet and will allow enthusiasts to form Racing Clubs to engage other clubs in friendly competition.
