Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV, KSVT-TV) - Interviews are taking place this week to replace the State Senate Seat held by Dean Cameron.

Cameron was appointed State Insurance Director back in May.

Now, Governor Butch Otter is in charge of finding the new candidate.

Cameron was from District 27.

The district encompasses both Minidoka and Cassia Counties.

The three finalists are Kelly Anthon, Doug Pickett, and Wayne Hurst.

"Each of those individuals will get to make a case as to why they believe they would be the best person to replace Senator Cameron. Obviously they are filling some pretty big shoes so I think the governor wants to ensure he has done his own due diligence in the selection process and beyond that I think he is looking to make sure that if they are selected they are interested in running again once the unexpired term of Senator Cameron seat is up"

If Governor Otter has not made a decision then the 36 Mini-cassia precinct officers determine the next state senator from the area.

A decision from their office could be made by the middle of next week.
