BOISE, Idaho (KLIX)- A Gooding rancher has paid a settlement after an out of control burn damaged public land. According to U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson John Faulkner and Faulkner Land and Livestock Company paid a settlement of $88,000 for cost assoicated with fighting the Castlerock fire in 2010 and Faulkner fire in 2008.

The prescribed burns on Faulkner land got out of control on a windy day and burned federal lands near Gooding. Idaho burn permits require permit-holders to have containment equipment and people to control private burns.
