The Primitive Skills workshops at the Herrett Center for Arts and Science continue with beginning and intermediate flintknapping, fascinating classes that will show you how those ordinary-looking rocks were transformed into the necessities of life long ago.

Beginning Flint Knapping

- 6/21 (6:30 to 9:00 PM), 6/24 (6:30 to 9:00 PM), and 6/25 (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Cost: $50 (includes lunch on Saturday, 6/25)

Intermediate Flint Knapping

- 6/28 (6:30 to 9:00 PM), 7/1 (6:30 to 9:00 PM), and 7/2 (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Cost: $50 ($10 discount for students of the beginning class) (includes lunch on Saturday, 7/2)


Explore Herrett: Robotics Workshop

- 6/28, 6/29, & 6/30, 12:00 to 4:00 PM
- Build, program, and troubleshoot LEGO Mindstorm robots
- Taught by instructors who placed 10th in this year’s FIRST international robotics competition
- Minimum age: 8
- Cost: $75 per person
- Pre-registration is required
- Meets scouting badge/patch requirements

Summer solar sessions

- Every Wednesday, 1:30 to 3:30 until Labor Day
- Free admission
- Great views of the sun’s surface and atmospheric activity
- Some bright stars and planets visible (in the daytime!) with the Herrett 24” telescope
