Duets Album a High Priority for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood
For years, fans have been asking for a duets album from Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. For years, the two superstars have more than entertained the idea, saying it’s something they greatly wanted to do, as well. Finally, the timing may be right for it to actually happen.
Yearwood explains that it didn’t make sense to do a duets album while her husband was “retired” from the road, saying, “If you’re not on tour — and he wasn’t going on tour because he was at home — you make a duet record and then you can’t do any of the duets because your husband’s at home.”
As of this month, both husband and wife signed to the same record label, RCA Nashville. Beginning in September, both will be on a tour that Yearwood admits could last several years. So … are they thinking what fans are thinking?
“Yes!” Yearwood told Taste of Country and other selected media during a recent roundtable. “That was one of the things that was important to us. We wanted to be on the same label so that we could do that easily.”
No, that’s not as good as having a firm date and proof of recorded music — both are, after all, planning individual solo albums in the very near future. But it seems that maybe, possibly, finally … a duets album could be a real thing in the next two or three years.
“Yes, it’s absolutely on the list,” Yearwood adds.
