CALDWELL, Idaho (KTVB) -- A woman accused of sexually abusing teenage inmates when she worked as a nurse at the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections has been returned to Canyon County.

Valerie Kristen Lieteau, 41, was extradited back to Idaho from California early Tuesday morning. She was arrested near Barstow, California on suspicion of DUI last month.

Lieteau is charged with two counts of sexual battery of a minor and two counts of sexual contact with a juvenile inmate. According to a tort claim, Lieteau abused at least four boys at the juvenile facility between 2008 and 2011. A warrant was issued for her arrest in May.

Lawyers say she had sex with one of the boys - identified in court documents as John Doe IV - in the nurses office while another female employee acted as a lookout. The sexual relationship allegedly continued after the teen was released: According to court documents, Lieteau stalked the boy, traveling to his hometown, calling him repeatedly and threatening him.

The tort claim alleges Lieteau gave the boys she abused prescription medications and "street drugs." The victims say their complaints were ignored when they attempted to report the abuse.

Lieteau is one of several female staffers accused of having inappropriate or sexual relationships with underage inmates at the facility. Julie McCormick, a former supervisor convicted of having sex with a 15-year-old inmate, was released earlier this year after spending less than a year in jail.

Lieteau is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. She is being held on a $500,000 bond.
