POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A former guard at an eastern Idaho prison has been sentenced to eight years of probation for attempting to have sexual contact with an inmate. The Idaho State Journal reports Kim Russel Rogers was sentenced by 6th District Judge Stephen Dunn on Monday.

The judge also gave Rogers a suspended sentence of three to seven years, which may be imposed if he fails to complete his probation. Rogers worked at the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center for about a decade before he was charged with felony sexual contact with an inmate in June 2012.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to reduce the charge to attempted sexual contact and recommend probation.
