COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- The former city clerk at the northern Idaho city of Athol has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $417,000 from the city.

The Spokesman-Review reports that 39-year-old Sally R. Hansen pleaded guilty to 15 counts of wire fraud on Wednesday.

Authorities say Hansen between 2009 and 2014 wrote 227 check to herself and her husband from the city bank account.

Court records say Hansen wrote off the losses as paycheck payments and signed the mayor's name to some of the checks.

Hansen is scheduled to be sentenced in May. Her plea agreement includes having to repay to the city the full amount she took.
