HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX) A Blaine County Grand Jury has indicted a former Blaine County Sheriff's deputy for misuse of money by a public employee.

The Blaine County Sheriff's office announced Monday afternoon that Chad Schiermeier, age 40, originally of Twin Falls, will face six felony counts. The sheriff's office says Shiermeier was employed from 1999 to December of 2015 as a school resource officer at Wood River Middle School.

The former deputy was put in charge of the Police Activites League, also known as PAL, a non-profit program dedicated to the prevention of juvenile crime and violence. Schiermeier also managed the money for the program.

“In November 2015, questions arose regarding Schiermeier's financial management of the PAL account,” said Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey. “As soon as we discovered discrepancies in the accounting and possible theft allegations, I immediately placed Schiermeier on suspension.”

The sheriff asked the Idaho State Police to investigate the allegations to avoid a conflict of interest. Schiermeier was fired in 2015 and his case was handed to the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.

ISP arrested Shiermeier on Saturday and booked into the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center on a $200,000 bond. He was arraigned in Cassia County District Court today.

"These are serious criminal allegations", Sheriff Ramsey states "and in the interest of transparency and honesty we will seek, along with the citizens of Blaine County, to see that truth and justice prevail."
