Heavy rain is creating concerns for flooding across parts of Southern Idaho. The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warnings for parts of Southern Idaho.

The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through tonight (Aug. 6). Portions of South Central Idaho, Southwest Idaho, and West Central Idaho are included in the Flash Flood Watch.

This includes the following areas:

  • Southern Twin Falls County
  • Western Magic Valley
  • Camas Prairie
  • Southwest Highlands

The Flash Flood Watch continues through 9pm tonight. Showers and slow-moving thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible in the watch area. Flooding may wash out roads, especially in areas of steep terrain. Debris flows are possible especially on burn scars.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
