NOTUS, Idaho (AP) — A 5-year-old girl died and five other people were injured in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 20 northwest of Caldwell.

The Idaho State Police say 24-year-old Jimmie Urrutia of Nyssa, Oregon, crossed the center line at 5:18 p.m. Saturday and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Saul Monreal of Caldwell. The crash near Notus killed 5-year-old Ofelia Monreal.

Saul Monreal and his two other passengers — 27-year-old Camila Claycomb of La Grande, Oregon and 16-year-old Saul Monreal Jr. — were taken to a Boise hospital by ambulance. Urrutia and his passenger, 21-year-old Daniella Vielma of Nyssa, Oregon, also were hospitalized in Boise. The ISP is still investigating the crash.
