TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has halted the online sales of hunting and fishing licenses after learning that its system has been breached.

The system will be down “indefinitely” until state officials can ensure customers’ information is protected.

“Whether any of Idaho Fish and Game’s license buyers’ information was obtained has not yet been determined," reads information from the department released Wednesday evening. "Fish and Game is working with the online vendor to investigate the matter and determine whether and to what extent Idaho data was accessed.”

Other western states also are investigating similar reports of breaches.

Licenses and tags may still be purchased at Fish and Game offices and licensed vendors that use a system not part of the breach.
