TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Idaho’s waterfowl season will be similar to last year, according to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game – except it’ll start two weeks earlier in the eastern and northern parts of the state.

The Fish and Game Commission recently set migratory bird seasons and approved putting the seasons and rules in the same brochure to make it easier for hunters. The 2016-2017 Migratory Game Bird Seasons and Rules brochure will be available online by early July and at all license vendors by late that same month.

A brief rundown of the season are as follows, according to a Fish and Game news release:

Ducks and Geese
Hunters will have a 105-day season for ducks and Canada geese, with a daily bag limit of seven ducks but not more than two female mallards, three scaup, two redheads, two pintails and two canvasbacks.

The bag limit for geese is four – except in parts of southeast Idaho. Check out the release for additional info.

Sandhill Crane
There are more tags in the offering this year, after the department increased tag numbers to 465 tags and extended the season length in some hunt areas.  The daily limit is two birds for all hunts, with a season limit of birds for each hunter.

Tags for Sandhill crane will be made available on a first-come first-served basis beginning at 10 a.m. (MDT) Aug. 1 at all license vendors.

Dove
The dove season will run Sept. 1 to Oct. 30 statewide, with a daily bag limit of 15 mourning and white-winged doves in the aggregate.

Crow
The season for American crows is Oct. 1 to Jan. 31 statewide, with no daily bag limit.
