SHOSHONE, Idaho (KLIX) -- Firefighters are working on a wildfire burning about 10 miles northeast of Shoshone. The Bureau of Land Management says the Brown Butte Fire was first reported around 2:30PM Sunday and is now estimated at about 7,000 acres.

Winds played a role in the fire's fast growth throughout the day. The fire is burning in grass and brush. The fire started off Highway 26, and it is not known what sparked it. Officials say crews used retardant and water drops to slow the fire growth.

A number of structures were in the area of the fire, but were not damaged and are not threatened. The BLM expects the fire to be contained by 8 p.m. Monday and controlled by Tuesday at 6 p.m.
