TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- The Fir Grove fire burning North of Gooding shut down part of Highway 46 Monday afternoon. Bureau of Land Management officials say it also shut down part of Highway 20 because aircraft had been flying nearby.

Officials first believed the fire burned 8,500 acres but after flying over it they determined it has only charred a little more than 7-thousand acres. No structures are threatened anymore by the Fir Grove fire. There are roughly 180 people working on the blaze.

It is so far 50 percent contained and officials are expecting to have the fire fully contained by this evening around 8pm.
