Filer Teen Found in Submerged Car at Salmon Dam Reservoir

ROGERSON, Idaho (KLIX) - Twin Falls County Deputies and emergency crews responded at 4:11am Saturday to a report of a submerged vehicle at Salmon Dam Reservoir.

According to the Twin Falls County Sheriff's office spokesperson Lori Stewart, the reporting party said they saw headlights in the water. They said the vehicle sank very quickly.

The sheriffs office said divers found the sunken pickup with Matthew Blake Simon, 19 of Filer inside buckled up deceased. They believe Simon went out to the Big Sand Bay area to go camping with friends when he became disorientated and drove into the water.

It is not known if there are any contributing factors in Simon's death.
