Surviving In Style and Bill Chisholm would like to invite you to Prepared, It Is As Much About A Sharp Mind As A Sharp Knife Friday May 25th at the Twin Falls Shilo Inn @ 6:00 pm In this lecture, Magic Valley native Bill Chisholm will draw on his wealth of experience and study in a broad range of venues to discuss both the mental clarity and the tools necessary for disaster preparedness here in the Magic Valley. In disaster or survival scenarios, one’s state of mind is as important as specific knowledge, tools or supplies. Bill will talk about how to prepare mentally for any type event as well as talk about specific scenarios from pre-disaster planning to actual event and post event recovery. Along with food, water and shelter, the lecture will deal with the importance of coordinating with neighbors and the larger community. Bill’s experience includes: · Wildfire-fighter for 17 seasons · Certified EMT · 17 years career as a Disaster Assistance Employee with the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a damage assessment specialist, which took him from Puerto Rico to the Artic in Alaska, out to Micronesia and points in between, assessing damage from earthquake, flood, tornado, typhoon and fire. · Served as chair of the Twin Falls County Local Emergency Planning Committee leading up to Y2K. · Survival Instructor with various wilderness schools and is familiar with both the necessary survival skills, and the mental attitude necessary in survival situations.
