DESCRIPTION:The College of Southern Idaho’s Community Education Center is offering the non-credit enrichment course\, Pottery\, taught by Brandie Heck at the College of Southern Idaho on Tuesdays\, September 11-October 30 from 6:30-8 pm.  Participants are invited to discover the artist within them\, create something beautiful\, and relieve stress all at the same time in this popular course. Whether a novice or a veteran potter\, students will explore the wide range of ceramic building and glazing techniques while developing a personal style using clay as an expressive medium. Students will discover and work on all aspects of hand building and wheel throwing as well as several different techniques for glazing and firing the finished pieces. SUMMARY:CSI Astronomy Talk
DESCRIPTION:Antarctica is one of the least hospitable places on Earth\, with temperatures reaching more than 100 below zero and gale force winds during the six-month polar night. Nevertheless\, astronomers from across the globe are operating cutting edge experiments and observatories to take advantage of conditions which\, although dangerous to life\, are ideal for studying the cosmos.  At 7:45 p.m. Friday\, Sept. 14\, Centennial Observatory coordinator Chris Anderson will present “Looking Up From the Bottom of the World\,” a talk describing the astronomy being done in Antarctica\, and the plans for even more ambitious future polar research. The talk begins in the Rick Allen Room of the Herrett Center for Arts & Science. Admission is $2.50 for adults\, $1.50 for students including CSI students with their activity card. Kids 6 and under are free.  After the talk\, the observatory will be open for telescope viewing\, weather permitting\, starting around 8:45 p.m.  Admission to the observatory is $1.50 per person\, free for kids 6 and under\, or free with paid attendance at the astronomy talk or a program in the Faulkner Planetarium.

SUMMARY:CSI Fairy and Superhero Day
DESCRIPTION:A fun event for kids at the College of Southern Idaho’s Ropes Challenge Course from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday\, Sept. 15 will collect important items for the CSI Refugee Center.Fairy and Superhero Day will feature face and rock painting\, wand making\, and ropes course events tailored to kids ages 3 to 10\, including the cat walk\, zip line\, rock wall climbing\, and other events. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in fairy or superhero costumes and must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free of charge. Participants are encouraged to bring items that can be donated to the CSI Refugee Center and other local shelters. Items may include personal toiletry items\, laundry or other cleaning products\, or gently used winter wear. The CSI Ropes Challenge Course is located on Frontier Field Road on the east side of the CSI campus between the Expo Center and Skip Walker Baseball Field. DESCRIPTION:The College of Southern Idaho’s Community Education Center is offering the non-credit enrichment class Get Going with Guitar\, taught by Leah Cothern at the College of Southern Idaho on Mondays\, September 17-October 22 from 7:30-8:30 pm.    In Get Going with Guitar\, participants will focus on using their ears\, eyes\, hands and minds to apply what they learn in order to have fun playing music. Specifically\, students will learn how to hold and tune their guitar\, practice basic chords and strumming patterns\, and learn to easily play melodies using the tablature method. DESCRIPTION:The College of Southern Idaho’s North Side Campus’ Community Education Center will be holding a non-credit enrichment internet series\, taught by Randy Bow\, at the CSI North Side Campus in Gooding on Mondays\, September 17 – October 1\, from 6-8 pm. The classes can be taken as a series or participants may sign up for individual classes.    Week one features Travel on Monday\, September 17. In this class\, students will learn how to seek out travel information for international and domestic vacations. The internet contains useful tools for checking on the safety and weather of destinations\, finding deals on airfare and hotels\, making reservations for national parks\, finding and creating custom maps\, event calendars and much more.    Week two features Online Safety on Monday\, September 24. This week\, students will learn how to protect themselves and use the internet safely. They will learn how to safeguard their identity and financial information while still taking advantage of the benefits of the internet.    Week three features Google Apps on Monday\, October 1. Students will learn to use Google Apps to increase the productivity in their home and business. DESCRIPTION:Ned Evett\, one of the world’s foremost fretless guitarists\, will perform at the College of Southern Idaho coffee shop located next to the CSI Bookstore at 1 p.m. Friday\, Sept. 28. The performance is free and open to the public. In 1990\, after playing in countless cover bands\, Evett smashed his Stratocaster onstage. Later\, he recovered the unbroken neck\, removed the frets\, and developed what would become groundbreaking style of fretless guitar playing. DESCRIPTION:For the 35 years that Tony Mannen has taught and directed in the CSI Theater program\, he has been mostly out of the limelight. As he begins his final year of full-time instruction at CSI\, the spotlight will be on Mannen for an evening as he presents ‘Letters to a Young Actor: Miscellaneous Ramblings of a Life in the Theater’ at the Herrett Forum. The presentation will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 19 in the Rick Allen Room of the Herrett Center for Arts and Science. Admission is free of charge.Mannen figures he has produced\, directed\, created the technical elements for\, and occasionally acted in more than 210 CSI or Random Acts of Theater shows over the years. He and his students are currently preparing for the CSI production of ‘New Jerusalem’ in December. He describes his Herrett Forum presentation as “a mix of wit and wisdom that will benefit everyone who considers themselves actors in this play we call life.”The Herrett Forum is a monthly series of presentations held the third Wednesday evening of each month during the school year. Topics are coordinated by the Herrett Forum Committee\, a group of community individuals dedicated to bringing high quality presentations to Twin Falls. SUMMARY:CSI Corn Maze
DESCRIPTION:The CSI Corn Maze opens tonight (September 28th) and continues every night through Halloween. As this is the 10th anniversary of the maze\, students promise a bigger\, better experience.    Because of the Washington Street construction last year\, the maze had to be shorten by almost an acre. It's now back to its full 11 acres and the corn has grown even taller than last year. A joint project among several student organizations\, the maze is open nightly from 5pm to 10pm and guests are encouraged to bring their own flashlights and dress for the weather.    As the nights draw closer to Halloween\, the Horticulture club promises to add some scares through the maze...    Food and beverages like hamburgers and hotdogs are available for purchase at the maze. Admission is $2 for adults\, $1 for students of all ages (with student ID)\, while kids 6 and under are free.
