Additional Information

Two of the College of Southern Idaho’s music ensembles are looking for some new members for the school year. Scott Farkas, who directs the Swing Band and Percussion Ensemble, invites musicians from the community to attend an informational meeting and auditions.

The CSI Swing Band, also known as the Jazz Band, specializes in Big Band music and performs several times during the school year. The band needs saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion, keyboard, guitar, and bass guitar players. The informational meeting for this ensemble will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 in the Fine Arts Band Room. Auditions for the Swing Band will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. Those who are interested should bring their instruments to each meeting.

The CSI Percussion Ensemble invites additional members to what’s sometimes called the most unusual music group on campus. The band plays a variety of music from all over the world, strictly on percussion instruments. The Percussion Ensemble also performs several times during the school year. The informational meeting will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 in the Fine Arts building Band Room. Auditions will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
