Eric Church seems to be pretty understood, actually — or at least appreciated. The star's Mr. Misunderstood album has earned a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

An album is certified platinum when it sells more than 1 million units. In addition to the RIAA certification, Mr. Misunderstand was previously named 2016 CMA Album of the Year. More good news comes in the form of a No. 1 single with "Round Here Buzz," which is at the top of Billboard's Country Airplay chart this week.

Church will have to keep up the momentum as he heads into Grammy Awards weekend. The Jan. 28 evening will feature a tribute to the 58 lives lost at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in October. Church will perform alongside other country acts who took the stage that weekend, Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne. Church headlined the first night of the three-day event, and two nights later during Jason Aldean's Oct. 1 set, the shooting occurred.

On Oct. 4, 2017, Church returned to the stage, tearfully paying tribute to the fans who died during a performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

“Something broke in me on Sunday night when that happened, and the only way I’ve ever fixed anything that’s been broken in me is with music," he said in prefacing his performance. "So I wrote a song." He then launched into a powerful new song titled "Why Not Me" on acoustic guitar as he sang, "Why you, and why not me?"
