RIGBY, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in eastern Idaho have identified the 31-year-old man shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy.

Officials on Tuesday said Tyrell J. Larsen of Jefferson County died following the shooting late Monday.

Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen says Larsen fled from a Bonneville County sheriff's deputy who tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.

Olsen says Larsen turned off his lights but struck a concrete foundation at about 11:45 p.m.

Olsen says Larsen drew a .22-caliber rifle when the deputy approached and refused repeated commands by the deputy to drop the weapon.

Olsen says the deputy than shot Larsen.

Larsen was transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Southwest Idaho Critical Incident Team is investigating.

The deputy's name hasn't been released.
