BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say a 9-year-old boy accidentally shot his 7-year-old brother in the arm with a .22-caliber firearm.

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland tells KIFI-TV that the parents called an ambulance after the shooting on Tuesday. The boy was taken to Harms Memorial Hospital in American Falls. Hospital officials declined to release any information.

Rowland says the older boy was moving a blanket that was covering the firearm. He says the boy didn't think it was loaded, but it fired. Authorities are investigating but say the shooting is an accident.
