Nearly ten years after its release date, EA is ending support for The Sims 2. As a final gift, the publisher is offering free copies of The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection to all Origin gamers who own the digital version of The Sims 2.

A NeoGAF member posted EA’s announcement earlier this week. EA will no longer provide any additional content or make any new technical updates to The Sims 2, but players will still be able to contact the publisher for in-game help. The Ultimate Collection will continue to be supported by EA and Origin, so players are urged to transfer any existing save files to the new version.

The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection includes The Sims 2 as well as every expansion and Stuff pack that EA has released for the sequel, including brand-specific packs like the H&M Fashion Stuff pack and the IKEA Home Stuff pack. With eight expansions and ten stuff packs, the Ultimate Collection will include a ton of virtual goodies for your Sims to enjoy, but upgrading from The Sims 2 on Origin is the only way to get this massive collection.

Eligible Origin members can find their copy of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection by logging into Origin and checking the My Games library. Players can then download and install the new version before deleting their existing Sims 2 game.

The Sims 2 was released on September 14, 2004.
