E3 2014: Capcom President: Company Has Plans for Street Fighter 5

After so many re-releases and updated versions of Street Fighter IV, Capcom has finally said it is planning to move on to Street Fighter V.

EventHubs reports that Capcom president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto said at E3 that his company is planning to make Street Fighter 5. Capcom’s E3 2014 showing mainly consisted of a focus on Ultra Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising 3, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Phoenix Wright. Unfortunately not many new titles were present besides Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright. Tsujimoto claims the new Street Fighter will try to broaden itself to new fans by making it more newcomer-friendly.

“We’d like to steer away from making the next game such that skilled players will win, but unskilled players will lose almost instantaneously,” Tsujimoto said.

Capcom is also trying to implement a special feature that will allow players to act as spectators between high-level players as their matches go on live, “so as to allow beginners to learn how to use the special moves and pick up on general strategy, which will help in growing the userbase”.

While we won’t have our hands on Street Fighter 5 for a few years, we expect it will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

According to Sponichi Annex, Street Fighter 5 is still years away from release, but Capcom is looking to put it out on the PS4 and Xbox One, at least as far as home video game consoles are concerned.
