Dragon Age: Inquisition Delayed To November

BioWare

On the Dragon Age website, the executive producer of the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition has announced that the game will be delayed from its original release date, and will be released on Nov. 18 in North America.

Originally scheduled for an Oct. 7 release, Dragon Age: Inquisition has been delayed by six weeks so that the team can work on, “polishing the experience we want you to see.” Mark Darrah, the game’s producer, made the announcement and thanked fans for their support and patience. Darrah stated that the team is still improving the overall experience, and is, “Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible. Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero’s choices. And ensuring the experience you get is the best it can be in the platform you choose to play on.”

While the delay of one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated titles is certainly disappointing, it’s nice to hear that the team at BioWare is so dedicated to making the game as tight and polished as possible. The first Dragon Age game was heralded as a classic when it was released in 2009, but its sequel, Dragon Age II, disappointed many fans with its small world, forgettable characters and simplified combat. Dragon Age: Inquisition will determine the fate of the franchise going forward, so a few extra weeks of development, while unpleasant to fans, should make for a more tight and polished final product.

This is the second of two EA titles bumped from the crowded October 2014 release window, which should bode well for not just fans, but the company’s bottom line as well.
