One of my favorite parts of the holidays is how charitable people are. If you donate to charity, you know it's not a completely selfless act.  Donating actually makes you feel good.

According to the Daily Mail, donating your time can boost your own well-being even more than donating money can. Apparently, giving money makes you feel more positive in general for up to a week, but donating your time can make you feel happy for almost a month.

According to the study, respondents were happy for approximately 24 days after volunteering and donating their time. For people between the ages of 18 and 24, it can last even longer.

About 2,000 people took part in the survey, and over 75% said they've volunteered or given to charity in the last year. And those who had were 12% more likely to say they were happy with their life in general.

Considering that I am a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Partner in Hope and I help host KEZJ's annual radiothon every year, I know how good donating your time and love can feel. Charity makes me happy.
