I know there's been a lot of hype in the past few years about the END OF DAYS, especially with this being 2012, which is supposedly the year the Mayans predicted the world would end.  But I had no idea how many people believed in it.

According to a new survey from Reuters, 14% of people worldwide believe that the world will end during their lifetime.  That's one in seven people, which is pretty damn high.

What's even more surprising? Americans are on the higher end: 22% of Americans say they believe the world will end in their lifetime.  That's two out of nine people in this country thinking the world has less than 100 years left.

Other countries are less paranoid. Only 6% of French think the world will end in their lifetime, along with 7% of Belgians and 8% of British.  The people of Turkey are tied with us at the top, at 22%.

And there's more! 10% of people worldwide think the Mayans might be right and are worried that the world might end in December. So that could mean this is our last summer.

The people most likely to believe in an apocalypse in their lifetime are usually under 35, have less education, or lower income.
