Not only will you get to control the new hero, the Crusader, in Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, but you’ll also get access to a host of new features. And, if things works out, Remote Play via the PlayStation Vita will be one of them.
See that video above? That’s just a taste of the brand new features you’ll find in Reaper of Souls, the upcoming expansion to Blizzard’s dungeon-crawling extravaganza, Diablo 3.
In Reaper of Souls, Malthael, the Angel of Death, is out to destroy humanity, a race he sees as the product of an unholy marriage between angels and demons.
To help you combat his onslaught and save humanity, Reaper of Souls gives you access to the Crusader hero class, a free-roaming Adventure Mode, Nephalem Rifts, Bounties to collect, Clans and Groups for social play, more customization options and even a new artisan called the Mystic.
Additionally, according to CVG, Blizzard is looking into adding a new feature that will allow for Remote Play on the PlayStation Vita for the PlayStation 4 version of the game. While they haven’t outright implemented the feature yet, Blizzard senior producer Julie Humphreys said, “That is something we are looking into. I would say we are in the earliest stages of looking at that. We want to make sure that it is readable and is a good user experience.”
One of the hurdles that Blizzard needs to clear is the fact that the Vita’s screen is smaller and has a different aspect ratio; this could be a problem when you take into account how many monsters can fill the screen and the way you organize items in your inventory as well.
We’ll update you if any more news about Remote Play is announced, but until then, check out the trailer above and look for Reaper of Souls when it’s released in 2014 for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360.
