A leaked GameStop memo has revealed new information about the upcoming Beta for Activision’s $500 million shooter, Destiny.

According to IGN, a letter sent to GameStop employees reveals that the Beta will give players a look at four story chapters. In addition, five multiplayer maps will be included, with four competitive maps and one cooperative map. Players will be able to explore “more of the world” in the 12.63GB Beta release.

On the official blog of developer Bungie, the team also announced that the Beta will be in less than perfect condition, and that fans should expect bugs and other problems; “We’d love to tell you that everything will go according to plan, but that wouldn’t be any fun. That wouldn’t teach us a thing. Even if the Beta is working perfectly, one of the alpha-geeks in the operations center is gonna kick it to see if it still works. Fortunately, we’ll be going to great lengths to keep you informed and keep you in the game.”

Destiny’s Beta launches on July 17, and with a half a billion dollars sunk into development and a staggering marketing campaign on the way, Activision and Bungie are expecting huge numbers for the free playtest. This leaked memo reveals a more substantial Beta experience than what many expected, which may cause even more gamers to pre-order the game to jump on board before the game’s release on Sept. 9 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
