Declo Man Killed in Truck Rollover

Malta, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - One person is dead and another injured after a car and a semi collided early this Friday morning.

According to George Warrell with the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, Juan Francisco Torrez Jr., 71 of Declo died after a car pulled out of a driveway off of old Highway 81, 11 miles south of Malta.

Torrez was driving a 2006 semi truck with a silage bed when a car driven by 23 year old Steven Freestone of Amalga, Utah pulled in front of the truck.

The truck driven by Torrez, ended up going off the road and into a ravine where it rolled. Torrez had to be extricated from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened around 7:30 am.

Freestone was transported to the Cassia Regional Medical Center. The medical facility would not release the condition of the patient.
