Zombie Studios has let us in on all the gory details of its upcoming, first-person horror title, Daylight.

First off, Daylight will utilize the PlayStation 4's social media capabilities. Zombie Studios has incorporated Twitch chat to help cue in-game events. Sharing your gameplay footage live via Twitch will allow people who are watching live streams of Daylight to type in significant keywords into the chat that your game will recognize and can use to trigger in-game frights. Don't worry, you won't be spammed, as there will be a filter that monitors trolling commands in the chat.

Daylight will also be fully 3D compatible. Those with 3D-enabled screens can utilize Daylight's RealD technology that helps the frights jump to the third dimension. We don't even want to know how terrifying the phantasms you will encounter in Daylight will look with a solid 3D system. Zombie Studios also left us with a reminder that their game will be compatible with the Oculus Rift VR headset when it comes out in late 2014/early 2015.

We also got a bit of insight into Daylight's backstory. The prison setting (as depicted in the pictures below), is actually a former hospital that had to become retrofitted into prison due to insufficient funding. The island where Daylight takes place has a history of death, with many angry spirits left due to the misfortune that they experienced in Daylight's locales in the distant past. One example would be when a passenger boat sank near the island, hundreds of corpses washed along the island's coast. Many of the ship's survivors were taken to the hospital, only to die painful deaths due to the hospital's inadequate facilities and lack of medicine. As a result, many vengeful spirits roam the entire island, which you will most likely encounter throughout the game locations, such as the forest, sewer, hospital and prison.

Finally, Zombie Studios has released the price and release date of Daylight. Be prepared to be terrified out of your wits armed with only a cellphone on April 8. Daylight will be available for PC and PlayStation 4 for the price of $14.99.
