Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc developed quite the cult following when it launched for the PS Vita in February. NIS America must have been very pleased with its success, as Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair has been officially announced for North America with a new trailer.

Like the original game, Danganronpa 2 will follow a group of prodigy students who have been captured and forced to play the game of the devious Monokuma. In order to win the game, a student must murder another student and get away with the crime after a class trial. If the student is successful, he or she graduates and everyone else dies. If not, that student is put to death for his or her crime and the game begins again.

The new trailer introduces the new set of students and shows off some gameplay. It looks as if the format will be very similar to the original, with investigations spanning multiple areas, Class Trials where arguments are heard, and the "Bullet Time Battle" system of clearing out the lies to get to the truth.

The trailer also shows a new character in Monomi, a pink and white rabbit bearing a striking resemblance to the dastardly Monokuma from the first game, who is making his return. Could there be double the danger now that there's two animal antagonists?

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will launch on Sept. 2 for the PlayStation Vita.
