TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Six days after the College of Southern Idaho announced the hiring of assistant men's basketball coach Jeremy Cox, he was promoted to head coach. The Times-News reports CSI promoted Cox Tuesday.

Steve Gosar surprised fans by announcing his retirement Monday. Cox has coached for 22 years, half as an NCAA Division I assistant and eight as a junior college head coach. He won an NJCAA national championship at Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2006. He has coached 10 athletes who have played in the NBA. Cox has been an assistant to Billy Gillispie three times, at Texas Tech, Kentucky and Texas A&M.

Cox has also been an assistant at the South Florida and Nebraska. Gosar coached the Golden Eagles for five years, compiling a 126-42 record and winning an NJCAA national title in 2011.
